"From Humble Beginnings to Expanding Across Historic Clubs: Celebrating the Growth of Girl Power Rugby Academy and Empowering Young Girls to Dream Big in a Sport That’s Redefining Opportunities for Women”
I’m incredibly proud to see how far Girl Power Rugby Academy has come in the last two years. Initially, the journey was slow, but since the start of 2025, we’ve expanded to three well-established clubs—False Bay, Hamilton, and Villager, each with rich rugby histories. It’s truly inspiring to witness how clubs with such deep-rooted traditions are now embracing girls’ and women’s rugby. Each of these clubs has worked hard in their own way to make girls’ rugby a success.
It’s amazing to see girls as young as 6 enjoying rugby and dreaming of representing their country in a sport that once didn’t offer them the same opportunities. I’m proud to say that GPRA is one of those safe havens, creating a space for young girls to be their authentic selves. It’s not just about rugby—it’s about allowing girls to express who they truly are through this incredible sport, which teaches so much more than just how to tackle.
